Daylight Savings Time shift

Pros:

  • My server log timestamps are now in my local time

Cons:

  • Dark
  • Brighter earlier in the morning (sucks if you generally wake up without alarms etc)

I wonder if society will ever move to permanently sit in "Summer time"

@benjojo or we could all agree to work 7-3 like my parents did.

And like, yeah, shifting the timezone is easier than getting everyone to change their opening hours and such.

But what if it turns out that a couple decades after we shift the timezone, everyone's working hours will slowly creep towards 10-6 or 11-7? And then we try to fix that by shifting the timezone again, and the opening hours shift again, and we end up in this ridiculous cycle of time of day becoming meaningless?

@benjojo i actually don't understand this - surely it's easier for people to work 8-4 or 10-6 instead of messing around with the very definition of time?

(and society already accepted this! most offices workers i know have some form of flexitime in their workplace, even those working in government or healthcare.)
