@benjojo oh nice. You get it new or get a nice used bargain? I desperately want an LTO drive but I need LTO-8 or 9 (or 10 but that is even less likely) for the storage volumes I have. :( Hope fixing it isn't too annoying.

@kura I've had this thing for ages! I use it as a final "DR" backup of some reasonably irreplaceable media https://blog.benjojo.co.uk/post/lto-tape-backups-for-linux-nerds Though I likely need to buy a new one, since it seems this one has cooked itself (it "works", but is super slow)

Gave the drive a clean and it sorta works, but it's slow! Only writes at 80MByte/s. I wonder what the fault is, xTalk and friends seem to claim the drive is fine despite what the front of the drive says

@benjojo i have a similar issue on mine (LTO-5 external one, looks exactly like yours) and when doing diagnostics test in xTalk it says i didn’t passed the read/write speed test, that i still could use it but it will be slower so far i’m still in the diagnostic phase, i tried the built-in diags from the front of the drive and it passed each test so far, so i will dig that up more

@nononymous tbh I'll likely just get a new (old stock) drive, they are now quite cheap as far as things are concerned
