@benjojo I truly don't understand the moderating on HN. It happens so often that I click the most interesting link on the frontpage, love it, want to comment on it, and can no longer find the comments page because it's been buried. I enjoyed your article; it was one of the few I cared to click on when I visited HN an hour ago.

@haydenschiff yeah I tend to open two tabs at once, the actual link and then the comments to read after. To be fair I've totally accidentally flagged stuff on HN in the past with fat fingers, when you get above some numbers of HN points you can easily accidentally send stuff to the shadow relm by mistake

@benjojo “flagged” as in “marked as spam”? Does it just take one person flagging it to hide something?

@benjojo I think there's just some weird elbows in the rank algo. It's back up again. Like you get bumped by a bunch of new posts, but then they all fade quickly and you climb back up.

@tedu mmm, maybe. I have definitely accidentally nuked a post by mistake with flag, but I agree a lot of HN ranking is a bit like SEO, we are but pigeons inside a test cage trying to figure out what the reward function is
