@benjojo they've used modified APCs as emergency/rescue vehicles at various times. Cheap enough when getting ones taken out of service, designed with ABC protection in mind and strong/sturdy enough they'll take falling debris etc, they are the kind of thing to evacuate astronauts and other personell if shit goes wrong close to launch, or to deal with e.g. fuel fires in general.

@benjojo is it their Astronaut Escape Vehicles basically if they need to get away from the rocket at launch they take a basket zipline down from the tower and then into one of those,

@benjojo NASA has had a number of armored vehicles used for running away from exploding rockets, or running back in after rockets exploded. Training for Shuttle astronauts included driving lessons in an M113, but the ones at Kennedy at least were replaced with more modern MRAPs.
