@benjojo failing that, I'd make sure the military knows you can do networks, so it's better for them to put you in charge of comms equipment far away from the frontline, rather than in charge of a rifle on the frontline. Although I'm not sure how that works in the UK...

I am pretty sure they would not conscript me even if they reached for the bottom of the barrel. But .... maybe some precautions would not be a bad idea...
