I wish freezers (or at least my freezer) would do the same trick that ice cubemakers do where they run hot every now and then to defrost all of the coils (and also in the case of the Ice cube maker, release the ice cubes)

On the flip side, I currently have weird mediaeval air conditioning in my flat at the moment as I defrost my freezer

@benjojo those "no-freeze" freezers do exist, but they do tend to be an option on the better/more pricy freezers. And yes, one can notice the difference between ones with and without. I just wished there was an option to connect heatpumps to more appliances; eg so that the dryer (which often have built-in heatpumps) could expunge heat outside as it was a split and not one that heats up the house, that the cold water from "the wall" was used to cool things etc, same for freezer/icecube maker, having that use heatpump circuit like an AC might be efficient (but likely there is an article out there that shows it is not)
