@benjojo Isn't that what "NoFrost" freezers do?
Edit: Nvm, it achieves the same goal (no frost) but uses air circulation instead of periodically heating the coils. That said, it might be what you're looking for regardless?

@benjojo@benjojo.co.uk it exists on most higher-end freezers – and it's a very common (near-universal) feature in the US where electricity is cheap enough that people will take lower efficiency to save effort.

I'm in Germany and our fridge does have this, it's nice but not like super-fancy.

@benjojo those "no-freeze" freezers do exist, but they do tend to be an option on the better/more pricy freezers. And yes, one can notice the difference between ones with and without. I just wished there was an option to connect heatpumps to more appliances; eg so that the dryer (which often have built-in heatpumps) could expunge heat outside as it was a split and not one that heats up the house, that the cold water from "the wall" was used to cool things etc, same for freezer/icecube maker, having that use heatpump circuit like an AC might be efficient (but likely there is an article out there that shows it is not)
