Weirdly the thing that is increasingly putting me off from drinking a bottle of soda every single day via the Tesco meal deal (or similar) is not the clearly bad idea of consuming that much sugar every single day, but the huge piles of plastic bottles that slowly accumulate in my flats "recycling" bin.

Especially since as far as I can understand recycling these bottles is very tricky and in practice is not really done...

@benjojo hrm

> It is believed that almost half of all UK plastic waste is incinerated for energy recovery, with 25 percent sent to landfills and just 12 percent recycled in UK reprocessing facilities. The remaining waste is shipped abroad.

on the other hand, i wonder why Glasgow City Council *specifically* “only target the collection of plastic bottles
within the blue bin recycling service” if not for reuse

@benjojo I have a surprisingly good record of gaslighting myself that the bottle is already made, so for me to not purchase it solves nothing except makes me between one and two pounds poorer.

I also usually choose something like Innocent fruit juice which is heckin' pricy on its own in comparison, to see if I can somehow make the whole meal deal idea unprofitable.
