This weekend bgp.tools moved racks to a full rack!

Not that it needed more space, but having a full rack makes compliance, cable management and having tools and spares on site so much easier

Also having PDUs that I trust not to die makes a huge difference as well

I can highly recommenced bringing a friend who believes in cable management, I will forever now feel bad (and avoid it) about making the back of the new rack messy after this

A side by side of the same servers, but in two racks, the first one is in a half rack and there is a total waterfall of cables at the back, the 2nd is a structured cable managed full sized rack where cables are channeled by color

@kunsi mid way migration regret, A mission/downtime sensitive machine was already up by the time that got racked, and we couldn't fully rack it because of that

Will be fixed later !

@benjojo Is the switch at the top only mounted on one side of the rack? It looks very wonky.

@benjojo This made me realise that coloured power cables are also a thing. I've always seen black ones, but having different power sources be visually coded seems like a very reasonable thing to do.

@ledoian Yeah instantly tells you what power feed/PDU you are working on, I use orange to signal that it's fed from a Automatic Transfer Switch (for single PSU devices that need to stay up)

@benjojo seconded on the cable management, i have a colleague who has what i will politely describe as "cable management ocd". our racks are spotless.
