After the whole news of data center sites being valid military targets, my decision this year to colo some stuff in a former nuclear bunker seems less of a whimsical decision and more (unintentionally) prophetic

@benjojo It's a few years ago, but the last nuclear bunker DC I visited did rely on quite a lot of above-ground infrastructure which ruined it a bit for me. They did have a lovely guard dog called Sheila though.

@bencc tbh the site I am in is also not fully completed yet lol, I just had a reasonably beefy 1U box that was depreciating in real time before my eyes, so I wanted to get it somewhere useful, and the opportunity presented itself

@benjojo meanwhile, @bgpwtf might not be in a bunker, but it is in one of very few buildings in midtown Warsaw that survived WWII. (There is a very bent chunky boi I-beam in the basement though)

@benjojo In a previous job we had a data center in a formerly military bunker(though not nuclear) Was not practical unfortunately. Cooling something deep inside a mountain is not easy...
