After working at it for 11+ months, I finally turned up a IX.BR port! One part of the process I was quite impressed at was the IX.BR Automated quarantine system. So impressed that I decided to write a small post about it in the hopes that other exchanges can observe and do similar things: Appreciation of automated IX Quarantine LAN testing https://blog.benjojo.co.uk/post/ixbr-automated-quarantine

@benjojo “almost all exchanges are layer 2 broadcast domains with all member routers on the same subnet” may I ask why is it done this way? Is it for performance reasons, like, avoiding routing so it will be easier to scale and less moving parts?

@jamesog Yeah, I spotted that too, but I'll give them a pass on that, non native english speakers. A lot of the IX.BR process is in Portuguese, and so finding bits that were english was a plesent surprise whenever possible :)
