man was it really worth having DEI and priority in VLANs, vs not just having the extra 4 bits (aka VLANs all the way up to 65k) Think of a alternate present where we could have had ports with 65536 VLANs on it, rather than QinQ or worse!

@benjojo I can't help but think if you need that many vlans (a) you have a problem and (b) you should seriously consider MPLS

@benjojo altho I think there are still devices that will do the old behavoir if the DEI bit is set. Would be fun to test at some point 🤔

@benjojo given some devices will probally interpet the mac address the other way arround it they are following an older spec. Given this was used to signal the mac address direction. given token ring used the other way around. Even a fun RFC about RFC2469
