another day, another ex2300-c making coredumps multiple times š
sometimes I wonder if we should just build our management overlay with netgear gs108 or tplink. it doesnāt have to be smart. it just has to stay up.
@0x47df Some of the Netgear switches are impressively bomb proof on the control plane, especially if you are doing just boring L2+VLANs.
On the extreme end, actually building your own mini switch with a non insane control plane seems very possible these days: https://blog.brixit.nl/making-a-linux-managed-network-switch/
@benjojo yeah thereās a ā¦ I think itās tplink? with an atmega deadbugged inside and honestly, for our āall ports except these three on the same vlanā thing we got going on for most of our management overlays? I can see it working well, if only enterprise would get over the whole ātp-link isnāt properāā¦ I mean neither is wasting our time on debugging low end enterprise kit failing in weird ways. idk.
@0x47df Yeah with how Juniper is going at the moment, I wonder how long until people just view Juniper switches as unreliably/buggy crap as a stereotype too, the current status quo does not look good
@benjojo @0x47df I canāt imagine it will get any better once HPE have sunk their teeth into Juniper either š
@edward it might already be happening tbh
@benjojo some of the bugs i found endearing, some of them tedious. it was like they were getting better until suddenly they are not ;;
