I kind of love to wonder what the supply chain looks like that resulted in me being handed a Kurdish (according to Google translate I guess?) can of Coke at my local chippy

@blahajinc_ my intuition says that it's probably a lot more sinister than that, in that somewhere in the chain people are buying grey market stock of stuff, like in sure it's safe but I'm not sure how legit this situation is :p

@benjojo mmh yeah, wouldn't be strange now that i think about it, we have destock stores here (France) who have a lot of products from other countries with rebadged stickers with the country instructions on them :x

@benjojo @blahajinc_ from what i once read, it's the manufacturing company that doesn't like this. They sell drinks wholesale for X in country A, and for 0.25*X in country B. Then someone decides to import themselves from B to A and sell them to retailers for 0.6*X. This happens quite a bit in Switzerland too. Coca Cola has a bottling facility here, and still Polish drinks get sold in stores. Sometimes there's even a sticker with ingredients etc slapped on.
In EU the illegal bit is not having nutritional information in an allowed language on the packaging. The manufacturer is very unhappy because they wanted to sell more at the higher price.

@benjojo @blahajinc_ probably as illegal (not) as shops selling multipack cans separately (up to 10 years in the pear wiggler)

@benjojo I usually discern the intended country of sale by the TLD of the Coke's site, if it can help
