Wish I could listen to the radio without the news. Is that possible? @benjojo are there markers that it might be possible to create a raspberry pi radio receiver, and turn the volume to zero during the news and restore the volume after the news?

@dee If the news section has a jingle (I know for example Radio 1 news beat does) you can use something like chromaprint to automatically detect it starting, and mute

@benjojo no, it's BBC 6 Music and they just cut to the news. I was hoping there would be something like a Traffic Announcement signal which denotes start and end of the news segment. Oh... I wonder if the programme information text changes in sync with the news.

@dee Maybe, on DAB/DAB+ the "Radio Text" system is mildly insane, on FM it's RDS and wont really change, Maybe if they have streaming via Shout Cast the ID3 tags change? Hard to know
