I would be nice to have a storage provider that could hold all of my RAW's on some ultra cheap, high latency storage (like tape)

The chance I ever touch a raw after 30 days of a photo is very close to 0, but not zero.

The best going rate (I think) is Google Cloud Storage Archive, that has 5TB at ~6$ with some penalty if you try and pull files (but that is kinda fine odd RAW that I want to redevelop)

@benjojo The irony is that tape backup is ultra cheap if you can afford the eye watering initial cost of a server with an LTO drive. I guess the reason that nobody offers cloud tape backup is that it is comparatively slow and requires manual retrieval to access an old tape.

I think there's also Amazon Glacier, but, uh, there's details and I don't know them.

@viq Yeah Amazon Glacier is also a option, but has some operational complexities, and extremely spicy pricing if you download too fast

Depending on the workload I found it’s either GCP or Scaleway Glacier or OVH. All <= $2 / TB + stuff.

Hetzner Storage Boxes are live and could cost less though, but they come in quantized blocks.

@antonis Scaleway Glacier is attractive but also requires you to binpack all of the files into a bucket and then "freeze" the bucket, and you have a limited amount of buckets you can make. Meaning that for a small amount of files there is quickly a lot of juggling to be done

@mcr314 yeah I'm friendly with the rsync net folks. But the pricing isn't really good enough for this case
