Wow, when did 28TB 3.5" CMR drives show up on the casual market?! Though looking at ST28000NM000C, the transfer speeds are still not really getting any better. You are still looking at less than 300MiB/s on a 28T spinner... (You can get 32T SMR from Seagate)

@benjojo lol so more than a day to resilver at 100% speed? At some point the drives are going to become too large to safely use at that speed.

@benjojo @roguelazer yes distributed hot spare is now a days the only sensible thing and just bite the bullet with longer rebalance periods. Or allowing drives to partially fail with self healing stuff that some vendors are now trying out.
