Interesting, AS1299 (Arelion/Telia) has made ASPA objects for... AS0 (aka never transit)

This is... a bold move.

Glad that they will be the lab rat for how well this works in practice for a "transit free carrier", given that in practice it seems that a lot of the transit free carriers are not entirely transit free

@benjojo hmm

so an ASPA is a way for an AS to declare that
"These ASes are my upstreams. They, and their (transitive) upstreams are the only ones allowed to announce my routes to their peers or upstreams. Anyone else can only annouce my routes to their customers."
?

And an ASPA with AS0 means "I do not have upstreams" ?

@benjojo one could argue that since nearly no production networks are doing ASPA validation yet it’s a decent strategy to spot issues in a relatively small environment. Enabling it later may actually lead to more impact when issues are found. still, I’m not sure if I would do the same, I decided to start with my test ASN (not transit free unfortunately 😉)
