So I bought a couple of new power distribution unit's for upcoming upgrades and after all of the boring software upgrading and set up I figured now is the best time to figure out exactly (since the metering on these are supposedly very good) how many watt hours a cup of tea is.

@gsuberland Raritan PX3-5892 - I already had one for personal use at home and they are just so nice, For once a vendor designing a web interface has clearly in the past had to use the product category first hand.

UI that makes sense, lots of obvious extras in the firmware for free (it can be a webcam server, serial server etc, just plug stuff in the USB), and it has built in prometheus scraping endpoints(!!!)

Turns out the default 'omg' limit is 6A per outlet, so I got to find out what the scream sounds like too

@benjojo That works about right; assuming 500ml of water, at 20c that's got to get to 100c - 500*80=40000, divide by 0.239 gets Joules, which is 167kJ; divide by 3600 I think to get Wh -> 46 - is that right?

@benjojo I've always guesstimated it at around 50Wh for my 3kW kettle. It usually takes around a minute to boil enough water for the pot
