cursed, don't read
cursed, don't read
your body looks real weird under IR. full of hot and cold spots. you can see veins
i bet someone is really into that
re: cursed, don't read
re: cursed, don't read
@whitequark yeah ditto, weird that I could see the veins in my arm by their temperature
re: cursed, don't read
re: cursed, don't read
@benjojo @whitequark they actually make pretty cool medical devices that use this, to help doctors/nurses find veins in medical settings
re: cursed, don't read
re: cursed, don't read
@demize @benjojo specifically IR? I thought it's some weird blue light thing
re: cursed, don't read
re: cursed, don't read
@whitequark @benjojo specifically IR; apparently they use an IR camera to make a map of your veins and then use a laser to project it onto your skin
(blue light supposedly has the opposite effect, makes it harder to find veins, hence its use in... certain public locations)
re: cursed, don't read
re: cursed, don't read
@demize @benjojo in ... where?
re: cursed, don't read
re: cursed, don't read
@whitequark @demize it's generally used as a deterrent against people "shooting up" (aka intravenous drugs) in alleyways/train station corridor/things like that
re: cursed, don't read
re: cursed, don't read
@whitequark @benjojo @demize You know you're in a good part of town when the toilets at the bus station are bathed in blue light.
re: cursed, don't read
re: cursed, don't read
@benjojo @whitequark largely bathrooms, also sometimes just outdoors in parks or wherever; public places that are private enough for people to feel comfortable using IV drugs
